The day Atlas came into our lives he immediately captured everyone’s hearts; especially his dad. His playfulness hid his mischievousness. One of my favorite stories to tell was, I believe his second week home, he stole his uncle’s chicken sandwich off the plate and put it on a napkin to eat.

He would get his older sister to play with him. She didn’t play with anything that wasn’t a string. And then Atlas started playing with string. He would pull the string as if it were a leash.

As he grew he got bolder and wanted to get into high places. He got into closets, on top of the fridge, on top of bookshelves; everywhere. That included the turkey before Thanksgiving when he ate through the plastic and got a few good bites.

But the best times anyone could get a picture of Atlas was when he was fast asleep. You knew the photos wouldn’t be blurry. Not only was he adorable when he slept, but he slept just like his dad. Same poses and always right next to each other.

The day we lost you was one of the hardest days in our lives.
Your dad said you were the heaviest thing he’s ever had to carry.
You made 4 years feel like 6.
You became a pillar in our lives.
We love and miss you Atlas.

Rest easy my baby boy.
